Valentine’s in Bali. Anything going on?
Valentine’s Day or night has always been a busy dining and nightlife moment in Bali and this week, namely Tuesday, shouldn’t be any different.
Most restaurants have a special Valentine’s dinner set menu on offer, but if not, just dine straight from the menu ala carte at any of these romantic restaurants and locations around the island.
Breeze at the Semaya, Ku De Ta, La Lucciola, Starfish Blue at W have all the trappings of romance and fine-dining, or you could try ShiShi’s all-you-can-eat extravaganza, too. They are all in Seminyak/Petitenget. Something else of great interest down the road in Kerobokan is Casera Terrace who are having a Valentines to remember. Girls eat for free! That’s right, your date just ended up costing you half! DJs are also supplying the vibe.
Up in Ubud, Mozaic is back in action and with a Valentines set menu, also the Four Seasons and other luxury hotels in Sayan and Cascades at Viceroy are great options. Not sure there is anything so romantic in Canggu, but maybe some kind of dimly lit warung or Mexican could fit the bill.
There is plenty of romance going on in Uluwatu though. Ulu Cliffhouse has their regular movie night after dinner on Tuesday, the Bulgari is of course, next level Italian and fancy. White Rock Beach Club is holding a special Valentine’s show called Love Potions, which has specialized in love shots cocktails and foam parties with love floaties. Sounds like fun.
The Jimbaran luxury hotels, Four Seasons, Ayana, Intercontinental et al, will no doubt be offering all kinds of loveable dining options. Locca Sea House has a special evening for unattached folks with a party starting at sunset, the Swipe Right Party. But if that’s all too much for you, maybe just grab a spot at a fish stall on Jimbaran beach.
After all the eating and intimate conversations are done it’s then time to get out for a little party. It’s normally busy out and about after Valentine’s dinner as couples move to the clubs for a little more romance and perhaps a drink or three, and especially around the Seminyak area. try Woobar at W Bali – they have a special event going on, Red Ruby also, Forge and ShiShi are good batch, the Shady bars also have Valentine’s events. Also remember, women eat for free at Casera Terrace and there will be DJs till late.

Road To Now Playing Festival 2023 next Tuesday at Peninsular Island, Nusa Dua
Next Tuesday ‘Road To Now Playing Festival 2023’, with top bands Weezer, Noah, Fourtwnty and The Adams will rock Peninsula Island, Nusa Dua, Bali.
The Now Playing Festival is scheduled to return to Bandung in 2023. In the lead up to the main event next year, the ‘Road to Now Playing Festival 2023’ is set to come to life on 29th November 2022 with performances from American Rock band, Weezer, and Indonesian top bands including Noah, Fourtwnty, and The Adams.
The Project Manager of Road to Now Playing Festival 2023, Jenny Steffany told The Beat, “We chose Peninsula Island for Road to Now Playing Festival because the island location is so exciting and creates a great atmosphere. It is one of the premier live music locations right now on the island. It’s the perfect spot for us before heading to our main event in Bandung. In 2023 we will present several different types of music festivals in one, with more variety of music, bigger and more memorable than before. The event will be held for two weeks and national and international musicians will perform.”
Now Playing Festival is an annual music festival which has been held in Bandung since 2019. It was the biggest music festival in Bandung then, inviting 14 bands who performed on two stages with 23,000 visitors. In June 2022, the Now Playing Festival returned after the pandemic for three days, this time with 33 bands on two stages. It brought together various genres of music with 90,000 attendees.
Peninsula Island, is one of the two famed small islands just off Nusa Dua beach with a total area of five hectares. Prior to the pandemic, the open space had already become a venue often used for sporting and music events.
Road to Now Playing Festival 2023 tickets are on sale now from IDR 300,000 to IDR 1,100,000.

Bali Nightlife in December? No problem.
Bali nightlife never ceases to amaze. Last weekend we had Above and Beyond and Anjunadeep (Savaya), Nina Kraviz (Kudeta. pictured above) and Franky Rizardo (W Bali). This weekend, we have the biggest festival of the year, Burning Beach Festival being held in Nusa Dua, with dozens of DJs including big names Dubfire, Danny Tenaglia, Monkey Safari, Darius Syrossian, Anja Schneider and a load more internationals and locals taking to the decks at Canna Beach Club. There’s a whole bunch of other shows going around the other venues too like Ulu Cliffhouse – The Jungle Giants, W Bali – Andhim and Coiz, Alesso at Savaya, and there’s Hatch in Uluwatu re-opening this week and holding the Odyssey Festival, with a bunch of cool DJs in attendance on Saturday. You would think it was high season in the middle of August.
But hey, isn’t it the middle of December? The time of year when no one is around and the place is gearing up for the Christmas/New Year invasion. And let’s not talk about the weather – the stifling heat during the day particularly. Well, it would appear all that doesn’t matter. It now seems that all the old rules don’t count, we are now on a whole new, post-covid playing field where anything goes.
As they say fortune favors the brave and hats off to them, the organizers. We the punters are the beneficiaries of all these organizational events, could we say, online. Yes, we could say it is rather bold. And to finish off this marvelous weekend we have the World Cup Final at 11pm Sunday night. You couldn’t script it any better.
This is the new Bali, folks, where anything goes at any time.

SO WHY IS EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT HATCH IN ULUWATU?
You can find Hatch Bali on the bend of the road just before the old entry road to Bingin and it is full of surprises.
The hatch is an extraordinary colorful, multifaceted tropical paradise, and it was re-opened after Covid in December 2022. It’s definitely one of the best bars in Uluwatu, not just because the venue is incredibly colorful and beautifully designed like a forest or jungle, but because the bar feels very much like you’re at a psychedelic music festival/bush doof more than in a venue . It’s an indoor-outdoor experience; cool in summer, rainproof in the rainy season. And that’s important right now!
It really is amazing how many nooks and crannies there are at Hatch and it’s like a constantly evolving playground for children and adults alike in which paths meander in every direction possible.
Beer pong, table tennis, board games, and pool tables can be used when the dance floor isn’t heaving and especially on Tuesdays – Game Night.
Speaking of music, there are varied and unique music styles every night of the week too.
The beautiful shipping container venue is unlike any other venue in Bali. It’s a bit more relaxed and even has a touch of Burning Man Festival in the décor. According to the management, its design reflects inspirations from iconic lifestyle music festivals, and the decor spreads over two levels to create a sense of being in another dimension, a colorful and playful space entirely designed by the imagination of its creators. They did a great job and Hatch is really quite a wonder.
It is the only venue of its kind, encouraging activities, games and tree-like cubby house structures to climb and interact within. Man, it’s a fun place to be, however, the venue’s heart is in its art—and live music.
The venue offers a musical experience first and foremost in its ethos. As Hatch’s owners told The Beat, “At Hatch, we do not believe in exclusiveness but inclusiveness – Everyone is welcome. We promote oneness by experiencing music together as equals. Guests are free to roam in almost every part of the venue and be free, just be yourself.”
Hatch is a place of connectivity and good vibes, not an us and them mentality confining people to their spaces, and it is one space for all to enjoy.
Expect the very best in music from local and international talent from all around the world. Just last week Hatch UK’s Stanton Warriors were in the house. They feature a broad range of music styles too. From house underground to live salsa dancing (on Saturdays) and mash-up hip hop (on Thursdays).
When Uluwatu’s Hatch does an event, you can expect it to be a spectacle, but the doors are always open with regular event nights and in-house DJs. At Hatch you can enjoy great food, with impressive cocktails and tap beer seven days a week from 2pm to 2am.
No wonder everyone is talking about Hatch!
