Ubud Village Jazz Festival is back in July
The much-anticipated international UBUD VILLAGE JAZZ FESTIVAL (UVJF) is entering its 10th consecutive year. This year it will be held on Friday and Saturday July 28 and 29 and at a new location.
Yuri Mahatma, the festival co-founder explains. “We’ve been holding the festival in ARMA for nine years, and the number of attendees has steadily grown, with no sign of slowing down. We want to keep the audience comfortable and comfortable at the festival, and keep surprising them with new experiences. So, we decided to move on with the event at STHALA Ubud Portfolio Hotel by Marriot. The hotel’s stunning open-air space is the perfect setting for our event. We are greatly looking forward to celebrating jazz in this beautiful location.”
Klik Suwantara, the festival architect, will use his wizardry of creativity to create a dreamlike ambiance, incorporating, as always, space for local culinary businesses as well as small companies from the creative sector, in order to add to the overall experience of the event . “We wish to attract not only jazz enthusiasts but also a wider range of people” Klik told the beat.
This 10th Year Celebration is marking a Come-Back-with-Full-Force, after the worldwide lockdown. A diverse and talented lineup of musicians from all around the world and the world will come together for the two-day event, bringing you on a journey of musical exploration and discovery.
Among them are the very well-known and respected Kevin Hays Trio (USA), along with Pere Bujosa Trio (Spain), Henk Kraajeveld Quintet (The Netherlands), MANNA Trio featuring Indonesian bass living legend Mates, Rio Moreno Latin Combo (Indonesia) , Amanda Lee (Singapore), SCAT CAT (CanadaIndonesia), Wilson Quah (Malaysia-Indonesia), Second Brain (France), Yuri Mahatma & Astrid Sulaiman (Indonesia), and the young and gifted pianist Nadine Adriana (Indonesia), to mention just a few.

검사과정에서 일부 용종은 즉시 제거할 수 있으며 출혈이나 염증이 발견되면 해당 검사를 통하여 확인하고 조기 치료도 가능합니다. 평소 복통, 잦은 설사, ??? 받는 것이 좋습니다.
대장내시경 검사 주기
대장내시경 검사 후 나이에 상관없이 고위험군은 3년 후, 저위험군은 5년 후 검사를 권고합 니다. ??? 드시 필요합니다.
하지만 본인의 신체는 본인이 챙겨야 하기에 위암이나 ??? 일찍 정기 검진을 받는 것이 좋으며 이유할 수 없는 체중 감소, 식욕 부진, 배변, 메스꺼움 중 검은색 또는 묽은 변이 나타나면 진단을 위해 대장 내시경 검사를 권장하며 내시경 치료가 즉시 가능요합니다.
대장내시경 검사 방법
건강검진 시에는 위내시경과 동시에 대장내시경을 수면으로 진행하는 경우가 많은데 비 수 면으로 진행하는 경우도 많습니다. 대장내시경의 경우에는 출산이나 수술의 경험이 있는 분들에게는 ??? 통증을 수반하기 때문에 수면 대장에는 수면 내시경을 더 많 이 하는 것 같습니다.
1. 왼쪽으로 누워 무릎을 구부립니다.
2. 수면내시경의 경우 진정제를 주사하여 잠이 듭니다.
3. 의료용 내시경을 항문을 통해 삽입합니다.
4. 잠을 자지 않는 경우 내시경을 삽입할 때에는 무리한 힘을 가하면 삽입이 어려울 수 있으 니 긴장을 풀어주시기 바랍니다.
5. 환자에 따라 약 20~30분 정도 소요됩니다.
이제부터 대장내시경 전 음식주의사항에 대해 알아보겠습니다.
대장내시경 전 음식주의사항(2~3일 전 음식 섭취)
항문으로 내시경을 주입한 뒤에 ??? 지나서 검사들을 하게 됩니다. 용종을 발견하기 힘든 경우는 장이 깨끗하지 않을 경우입니다. 그래서 1주일 전부터 음식 섭취에 주의를 기울여야 합니다.
견과류나 곡류는 당연히 안되고, 흑미와 고춧가루가 들어간 음식은 섭취를 자제 하시는게 좋습니다. 그리고 특히 섬유질이 많이 들어있는 채소도 웬만하면 먹지 않아야 합니다.
#1 대장내시경 전 음식주의사항 – 먹게 되면 안 되는 음식
견과류: 땅콩, 아몬드, 잣 등 견과류도 대장 내 남아있을 경우가 높으니 피하는 게 좋습니다 .
고춧가루: 고춧가루는 우리나라인의 밥상에 넓게 쓰이는 조미료이지만 섬유질로서 장에서 빠지지 않고 그대로 남아있을 경우가 많다고 ??? 을 듯 싶습니다.
고구마 감자: 섬유질이 다양한 고구마와 감자도 먹는다면 안 됩니다.
??? 줄 수 있으므로 되도록 먹지 않는 게 좋습니다.
버섯: 조금만 먹어도 대장내시경 검사에 방해가 크다고 하니 피하는 게 좋습니다. 곡류 잡곡밥이나 흑미 현미 보리 콩 깨 등 먹게 되면 안 되며 오로지 흰쌀만 섭취 해야만 합 니다.
육류: 순수하게 살코기는 먹어도 되지만 지방층이 있고 ??? 야 합니다.
애호박: 열을 가하면 많이 ??? 로 식이섬유소가 많아 대장에 남아있을 경우가 있어 먹게 되면 안 됩니다.
해조류: 해조류도 섬유질이 많아 섭취하게 되면 안 됩니다. 흰밥과 같이 먹는 김이나 국으로 먹을 수 있는 미역 매생이 ??? 니다.
과일: 과일 같은 경우 수박 포도 같은 씨를 같이 섭취 하는 것이나 보편적으로 과일은 섬유 질이 많아서 대장에 남아있을 확률이 높기에 피하시는걸 추천드립니다.
** 음주는 검사를 하기 7일 전부터 하지 않는 것이 좋습니다. 음주 를 하면 대장 내 점막을 자극 해 충혈 을 발생 시켜 에 문제 를 를 시킬 수 있습니다.
#2 대장내시경 전 음식주의사항 – 먹어도 되는 음식
두부류, 묵, 빵 종류, 국물류
사과, 배, 바나나
흰쌀밥, 흰 죽만 가능
맑은 음료류: 녹차, 맑은 주스, 이온음료 등

검사 전날부터는 반찬이 없는 흰쌀 죽만을 섭취해야만 합니다. 그리고 12시간이 남은 점심 식사 뒤에는 오직 물만 마셔야 합니다. 대장 정결액을 검사 전날부터 섭취해야만 하는데 이때는 2리터에서 4리터 정도의 물도 같이 마셔야 합니다.
1일 전에 식사를 하지 않으면서 커피는 상관없겠지 하고 섭취하는 분들이 있습니다. ??? 견될 수 있으니 먹지 말아야 합니다.

Satellite Worlds and the Bali Status Quo
After reading a story in the Australian Financial Review about the Bali digital nomad community yesterday, I decided to take a look at PARQ, north of Ubud.
The owners of PARQ Ubud bill the place on their website as a city of the future. The article billed it as a Russian and Ukrainian enclave, full of digital nomads, setting up camp in Bali to escape the war in their East European neighborhood. The place is enormous. Someone obviously spent a lot of dollars or rubles to put it together, but I didn’t feel threatened by it, nor by the people there. In fact, it’s all rather suburban, like a shopping mall with accommodation, and anyone, as far as I could see, was welcome to enter. The smiling security guards with automatic weapons slung over their shoulders walking past when we got inside obviously weren’t there for us, but I did wonder for whom.
It’s a complex of apartments, swimming pools and restaurants. There’s also a flash gym. But the main thing is the peaceful people. There’s no aggression, just people going about their business – most probably digital business like everywhere nowadays. There’s even a hint of sadness at these people’s plight.
There are other complexes around the island inhabited by Australians, French or Germans, maybe not as big, and like Parq, I wouldn’t feel threatened either.
Bali has an inclusive environment that welcomes all to its shores. Just like Aussie bogans or Pommy hooligans everyone has to learn the local way and feel the local energy if they want to settle here. I expect these new settlers will eventually do the same.
The world and Bali is changing now at a rapid pace and there is no holding it back. Fortunately, we have a banjar system on this island that will keep the status quo the same as it has been for centuries, as was seen with recent deportations of unruly wannabe new settlers.
At sunset there weren’t so many people around the complex. A friend said there were more punters about at lunch. We took off down the hill for dinner in town and had a pleasant evening in Ubud.

BALI’S GREATEST GUITAR EXPO IS BACK SOON
After a successful first edition of the Guitar Expo at Hard Rock Hotel Bali in 2019, the event is returning again on October 29th – 30th, 2022. The Hard Rock Hotel Guitar Expo aims to cultivate an appreciation for musicians and strengthen the community through music.
Guitar Expo is a must-attend event that presents a stellar line-up of electric and acoustic guitar makers, vintage dealers, and exhibitors of related guitar gear. On display are a variety of guitars, basses, electrics, acoustic guitars, and other types of musical instruments. In addition to concerts and jam sessions, the Hard Rock Guitar Expo will also feature a guitar clinic and rock guitar competitions for participants of various ages. The competition is free to enter and the period for submitting applications will begin on October 1st and continue until October 20th, 2022.
All of the participants will be vying for the opportunity to take home the grand prize, the Heritage Electric Guitar. The winner of the competition will not only receive a number of fantastic prizes, but they will also have the opportunity to perform at Centerstage on the last day of the Guitar Expo. The jury will consist of two judges; the lead guitarist of Lolot Band, Donnie Lesmana and Sugix Anantra; the 1st winner of Ibanez Flying Fingers 2018.
All are experienced composers, arrangers, and performers. JRX will host a coaching clinic in addition to his one-of-a-kind performance that will take place on October 30.
“This event provides a platform for emerging guitarists to showcase their talent, connect with other artists in the community, and potentially win some great prizes,” said Shane Coates, the General Manager of Hard Rock Hotel Bali.
The Hard Rock Guitar Expo is indeed a unique opportunity that brings together not only the local music community but also music fans from all over the world, with a particular focus on those who are passionate about guitars. It’s a free event and anticipated to attract Hard Rock Hotel guests, other tourists and local residents.
Hard Rock Guitar expo will be held on October 29th – 30th from 10 am to 6 pm.
In addition, Hard Rock Hotel Bali will display the Pink Guitar collection in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness and raise funds through the sale of Pinktober merchandise on this occasion. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is observed in October each year to raise awareness of the disease.

Man, it never ceases to amaze me when it comes to the standard of events we manage to have on offer on this island of ours. Another huge weekend is on the way. Keep ya hat on!
Kicking off tonight, Friday Oct 21, La Brisa in Echo Beach Canggu is bristling with talent. LA house champ artman comes in to spice up the latest Escape show, now returning to La Brisa for the first time since before the Big C. That should be a blaster – and look at the weather! (Well, let’s hope it gets better!) Artmann is joined by all your fave Escape crew on the dials. Starts early, goes late. Best time 11pm.
Also tonight, German DJ/producer Timo Mass, the grand master of techno is in the house. the Red Ruby house that is. That place has really become the No1 underground joint in town since the C restart and in my mind, since the Budakid show back, was it April? Yes, good times at the venue and sure to be good with Timo Maas on the decks tonight, Friday. Ideally there before 1am.
Tomorrow early evening all live music enthusiasts will be lining up in front of the spent our poolside stage of Ulu Cliff House for a very special show. The Original Wailers (pictured above) will be swooning reggae fans young and old with tracks from the master blaster Bob Marley for a truly unforgettable show. Be there before 6.
tomorrow Cascade, will be grace the south coast Savaya decks from also early evening with help on both ends from a local rising star, Papu.
So who’s Kaskade?
Grammy-nominated electronic producer and DJ, Kaskade emerged as one of the most successful American progressive house DJs of the 2000s, pioneering the concept of Las Vegas residencies and selling out arenas across America―With his bright, uplifting dance anthems, he was a steady presence on the US dance charts into the 2010s with Top Ten releases that included chart-topper tracks such as Fire & Ice (2011) and Atmosphere (2013). The DJ was voted as America’s Best DJ” in 2011 and 2013―Touring consistently worldwide, Kaskade is a name that belongs to big stages and venues worldwide including Ultra, Coachella, Ushuaia Ibiza and many more. Be there around 5.
Also tomorrow night, Saturday, watch out for the befores crew spinning at Jenja. I won’t speak too much about it, but be there by 11pm till the end for the journey of your life with some of your all time favorite DJs and many a local nightlife luminary.

TAKUMI – The Beat Bali
TAKUMI A NEW JAPANESE DINING EXPERIENCE.
Japanese dining just hit a new, higher level in Bali with the opening of Takumi on Jalan Petitenget, situated right next to Ling Lings.
We arrived and were directed to the light colored timber dining bar or counter, sitting on elegant dining chairs, and now overseeing the action. Osaka born Chef Daijiro [pictured above] is in front of us smiling. He overseas a multitude of cooks and assistants, who are busy hand-making dishes right in front of our eyes. The main kitchen, which services the counter is out the back. Floor staff are attentive and discrete, hovering back and forth, making sure everything is comfortable. There are also separate tables and booths for guests requiring more exclusion.
Besides the handcrafted Japanese set menu (pictured above), the decor and finishing of Takumi places it right among the best restaurants in the area.
But back to the menu. There are two choices right now. The full set menu, consisting of nine separate dishes, and also a six piece version. There is no a la carte. The set menu is seasonally based and will change periodically. The menu and dining concept follow Shun and Chisan Chisha principals, which basically means eating foods at their seasonal freshest and best. Everything is super fresh at Takumi.
There are plenty of tasty morsels on the menu and, as you would expect from a Japanese eatery, they are mainly from the sea, but some come from the farm―succulent beef and chicken cooked in a variety of ways and forms, and perfectly cooked vegetables that appear in such a simple way on the plate that you have to smile. They are also simply delicious. The Japanese have perfected stylish and healthy dining over centuries and here at Takumi those centuries of experience would appear to be rolled right into every single dish. If you are seated at the counter those dishes, which roll out every few moments, as I said above, are mostly created right before your eyes.
Takumi is an exceptional dining experience with Mr Daijiro at the helm.
Upstairs henceforth, is the bar and wow, what a bar. Plush interiors and Japanese whiskeys are de rigor and it too is up there with the fanciest bars in town. Not overly large, but intimate and uber-stylish.

Road To Now Playing Festival 2023 next Tuesday at Peninsular Island, Nusa Dua
Next Tuesday ‘Road To Now Playing Festival 2023’, with top bands Weezer, Noah, Fourtwnty and The Adams will rock Peninsula Island, Nusa Dua, Bali.
The Now Playing Festival is scheduled to return to Bandung in 2023. In the lead up to the main event next year, the ‘Road to Now Playing Festival 2023’ is set to come to life on 29th November 2022 with performances from American Rock band, Weezer, and Indonesian top bands including Noah, Fourtwnty, and The Adams.
The Project Manager of Road to Now Playing Festival 2023, Jenny Steffany told The Beat, “We chose Peninsula Island for Road to Now Playing Festival because the island location is so exciting and creates a great atmosphere. It is one of the premier live music locations right now on the island. It’s the perfect spot for us before heading to our main event in Bandung. In 2023 we will present several different types of music festivals in one, with more variety of music, bigger and more memorable than before. The event will be held for two weeks and national and international musicians will perform.”
Now Playing Festival is an annual music festival which has been held in Bandung since 2019. It was the biggest music festival in Bandung then, inviting 14 bands who performed on two stages with 23,000 visitors. In June 2022, the Now Playing Festival returned after the pandemic for three days, this time with 33 bands on two stages. It brought together various genres of music with 90,000 attendees.
Peninsula Island, is one of the two famed small islands just off Nusa Dua beach with a total area of five hectares. Prior to the pandemic, the open space had already become a venue often used for sporting and music events.
Road to Now Playing Festival 2023 tickets are on sale now from IDR 300,000 to IDR 1,100,000.

Bali Nightlife in December? No problem.
Bali nightlife never ceases to amaze. Last weekend we had Above and Beyond and Anjunadeep (Savaya), Nina Kraviz (Kudeta. pictured above) and Franky Rizardo (W Bali). This weekend, we have the biggest festival of the year, Burning Beach Festival being held in Nusa Dua, with dozens of DJs including big names Dubfire, Danny Tenaglia, Monkey Safari, Darius Syrossian, Anja Schneider and a load more internationals and locals taking to the decks at Canna Beach Club. There’s a whole bunch of other shows going around the other venues too like Ulu Cliffhouse – The Jungle Giants, W Bali – Andhim and Coiz, Alesso at Savaya, and there’s Hatch in Uluwatu re-opening this week and holding the Odyssey Festival, with a bunch of cool DJs in attendance on Saturday. You would think it was high season in the middle of August.
But hey, isn’t it the middle of December? The time of year when no one is around and the place is gearing up for the Christmas/New Year invasion. And let’s not talk about the weather – the stifling heat during the day particularly. Well, it would appear all that doesn’t matter. It now seems that all the old rules don’t count, we are now on a whole new, post-covid playing field where anything goes.
As they say fortune favors the brave and hats off to them, the organizers. We the punters are the beneficiaries of all these organizational events, could we say, online. Yes, we could say it is rather bold. And to finish off this marvelous weekend we have the World Cup Final at 11pm Sunday night. You couldn’t script it any better.
